Privacy

What we store, and what we do not.

This site sets no cookies and carries no advertising or advertising trackers. The only personal data we store is an email address you choose to give us. You can read every page without signing up for anything, and the sections below cover each case where the site keeps something.

Newsletter sign-ups

When you send the newsletter form, we store four things:

  • your email address
  • which list you signed up for
  • the time you signed up
  • the page you sent the form from

We do not store your IP address. Sign-ups are kept in Cloudflare Workers KV, a storage service run by Cloudflare.

The emails are sent by Kit (kit.com), an email service. When you sign up, we pass your email address and the page you signed up from to Kit, which keeps them to send the newsletter. Kit sends one email first, asking you to confirm, and nothing else until you do. Kit’s emails can record whether an email is opened and which links in it are clicked. How Kit handles data is described in Kit’s privacy policy.

To remove your address, use the unsubscribe link in any email or the removal form on the newsletter page. The removal form deletes your address from our list and unsubscribes it in Kit.

Your theme setting

If you choose a light, dark or system theme, the choice is saved in your own browser’s local storage (localStorage) so the site can remember it. It stays in your browser and is never sent to us or anyone else.

Visit counts

We count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, run by Cloudflare, which hosts the site. A small script reports each page load to Cloudflare (cloudflareinsights.com). According to Cloudflare’s documentation, the script stores nothing in your browser (no cookies, no local storage), and Cloudflare discards the IP address instead of storing it.

Hosting

Cloudflare hosts this site. To serve each page, Cloudflare processes standard request data, such as the network address your browser connects from, as any web host must. How Cloudflare handles that data is described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
